Air

Durham Tees Valley Airport welcomes passengers with reduced mobility. It is their aim to provide an efficient and streamline service.

Rail

There are stations at Redcar East, Redcar Central, Longbeck, Marske and Saltburn.

Redcar Central has adjacent car parking with disabled bays, ramp access to ticket office and level access to platforms.  There are no public toilets.

Redcar East has slope access to both platforms.  No ticket office, car parking or public toilets.

Longbeck has slope access to both platforms.  No ticket office, car parking or public toilets.

Marske has slope access to both platforms.  No ticket office, car parking or public toilets.

Saltburn has adjacent car parking with disabled bays, level access to platform, level access to public toilets but no Disabled toilet and no ticket office.

Bus/Coach

Redcar & Cleveland Dial-A-Ride

The Dial-A-Ride service is for residents of the Borough who have a permanent and substantial disability and are unable to use existing public transport. A Door-to-Door service is provided with members paying an annual fee of £15 and 40p for the first 3 miles and 35p per mile thereafter. The four special vehicles all have wheelchair access and are adapted to cater for passengers with mobility difficulties

Arriva/ Moorsbus

There are many bus services operating around the Borough that offer easy access, wheelchair friendly bus routes.

To help plan your journey and find out about accessible routes, call traveline on 0871 200 22 33 (lines open 0700 - 2100 daily; calls provided by BT will be charged at 10 pence per minute at all times. A call set-up fee of 6 pence per call applies to calls from residential lines. Mobile and other providers' charges may vary),

National Express

National Express operates services to and from the neighbouring Borough’s of Middlesbrough and Stockton, where connecting services can be obtained to travel to Redcar & Cleveland.  There is car parking nearby to both along with drop off points, but no adjacent disabled parking. 

Stockton is located on the High Street and has dropped curbs and a pedestrian crossing.  Middlesbrough is located in the Bus Station and has an indoor seated waiting room on the first floor with lift access and a disabled toilet.

Taxis

There are a number of local taxis firms that can cater for disabled passengers with specially adapted vehicles to able wheelchairs to remain in situ, thus reducing the stress of travelling by taxi.  We would recommend however that you discuss your individual requirements before booking, to ensure their facilities meet your needs.
